The Animationsinstitut of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is one of the world’s leading educational institutions in Animation, Animation/Effects Producing, Visual Effects, Technical Directing, and Interactive Media. The study program offers a unique combination of artistic high-quality and technological-innovative projects, which find expression in both filmic and interactive formats. This is also due to the Research and Development department, which, together with national and international cooperation partners, carries out various research projects with a focus on technical innovations for film and media productions. The courses at the Animationsinstitut are practice oriented and project-based. The institute encourages students to work interdisciplinary with other students from all kinds of departments of the Filmakademie. As a result, they make valuable contacts for later professional collaborations from the beginning. Moreover, the Animationsinstitut has excellent international connections and welcomes guest lecturers from all over the world. Student projects run very successfully at major festivals and win important awards, such as the Student Oscars, VES Awards or the German Computer Game Award. Many alumnae and alumni of the Animationsinstitut work for international film studios or game companies. They often take on important roles for big projects. Additionally, the Animationsinstitut supports its students in founding start-ups after they finished their studies. Furthermore, the Animationsinstitut organizes the FMX – Film & Media Exchange in terms of content. The international conference provides an important network for the community and, in addition to a job exchange, is a highly regarded platform for current developments, ideas, and products in digital entertainment. www.fmx.de
