Every spring, the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film (ITFS) transforms the city into the vibrant hub of animation. The ITFS is one of the world’s largest animation festivals, characterised by the diversity of its programme, numerous (including Oscar-qualifying) feature-length and short film competitions and its interfaces with other disciplines, and it has become a crowd-puller in the region and a place-to-be for professionals.
Artists and filmmakers from all over the world come together at this festival. It is a place for dialogue with audiences and the promotion of new talent and, naturally, a meeting place for the industry. It brings a blast to the cinema and insights to the panel. It is international and collaborative, with unexpected encounters and awesome experiences. This is also why the ITFS is one of the world’s most important events for animated film. Since 1982.
Welcome to the STUTTGART ANIMATED WEEK: The Animation Production Days (APD), the most important German co-production and financing market for animation, organised by the FMF in cooperation with the specialist conference FMX – Film and Media Exchange, take place alongside the ITFS. Thanks to the combination of film festival, conference, and market, the three events have become a unique platform for financing, development and presentation of animation projects and attracting up to 6,000 industry professionals to Stuttgart every year.
The ITFS is organised by the Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF). It acts on behalf of the associates City of Stuttgart, Wirtschaftsförderung Region Stuttgart, Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg (for the state of Baden-Württemberg) and the City of Ludwigsburg.
