Studio Seufz creates animated films and indie games for young adults. Since 2017 they initiate both inhouse projects based on the studio’s IPs, as well as projects with international partners in the film and gaming industry. Whichever format, productions are always defined by a strong auteur voice and diverse talent. This format-independent approach made Studio Seufz the only studio to date that has been nominated for the German Short Film Award and has also won the German Computer Games Award.

The studio’s most noted productions include “Just a Guy”, an animadoc short by Japanese director Shoko Hara. It became the most successful German short film in 2020 and qualified for the Oscars in 2021. In 2020 the game “The Longing” by Anselm Pyta won at major international festivals and is generally regarded as one the year‘s indie breakout hits. The VR game “VR Pigeons”, a mind-bending pigeon simulator by Maestro Pivetta, features innovative 3D movement controls. Besides these self-initiated projects, their commissioned music video for Freddie Mercury’s “Love Me Like There‘s No Tomorrow” was highly praised for its emotional animation.

Current productions include the game “Lucky Tower Ultimate”, a narrative roguelike based on the highly successful Flash games by Anselm Pyta and Benedikt Hummel. The animated feature film “Condenaditos / Cursed Children” by Bolivian filmmaker Matisse Gonzalez, a Cartoon Network veteran, is currently in development. Studio Seufz also organizes the innovative networking event “Night of Shame“, a live show where established filmmakers and newcomers alike show their worst films in a loving and forgiving atmosphere.
