Kickstarter campaign launched for “Frieda is Changing”

Mucks! Games, award-winning three-person and female-led indie studio from Ludwigsburg, launched the Kickstarter campaign for their second title “Frieda is Changing”. A detective point & click adventure set in the isolated island village of Rausching, “Frieda is Changing” follows a young girl determined to uncover the truth behind her sister’s disappearance. But as she digs deeper, something inside her begins to change. Can the players solve the mystery before Frieda transforms into a werewolf under the next full moon?

Blending emotional storytelling with eerie atmosphere, the game explores themes of grief, anger, and transformation. Its distinct hand-drawn visual style, mirroring 90s cartoons, brings Rausching to life as a place filled with strange glances, quiet tension, and secrets lurking beneath the surface. “We wanted to create a story that feels personal, unsettling, and honest,” says the team at Mucks! Games. “Frieda is a character who doesn’t let things go – and that makes her both powerful and dangerous. The game is about what happens when emotions you’ve tried to bury refuse to stay hidden.”

The Kickstarter campaign launched on June 2, 2026, will run for 30 days with a 15.000 Euro funding goal. This will support the final stages of development, allowing the team to expand the game’s narrative depth, collaborate with additional writers, composers, and sound designers. “Frieda is Changing” is planned to release late 2026. A free demo is available on Steam.

Prix Italia Nomination for Pixelcloud’s GreenGuardiansVR

Great excitement for our HEROES at Pixelcloud: their VR game GreenGuardiansVR has been nominated in the “Digital Innovation” category of the prestigious Prix Italia. The award honors outstanding productions in the fields of radio, podcast, TV, and digital media, and is organized by the Italian broadcaster RAI.

SWR / Pixelcloud – GreenGuardiansVR

GreenGuardiansVR was produced by Südwestrundfunk (SWR) and Pixelcloud for ARD. The creative team included Christoph Rasulis (Director), Tim Philipp (Project Manager), Rolf Rothgerber (Developer), and Jonas Kirchner (Producer).

About the game:
Young people under 25 often see the climate crisis as abstract, overwhelming — or both. We want to change that! We reimagine climate journalism through GreenGuardiansVR: a satirical co-op VR game combining action, teamwork, and humor. Instead of feeling helpless, players fight the root causes of global warming with up to four players in a gripping story that playfully teaches facts and media literacy.

A mega-corporation turns you into a robot, forcing you into a seemingly rosy future — while unstoppable climate change looms. Rebels hack the system to warn you: only together can you break the propaganda machine, take on the corporation, and save the planet.

The award show will be presented during the Prix Italia Festival (October 20 to 24, 2025) in Naples. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!

GDD Indie Award 2025 Nomination for Studio Seufz

Screenshots: Studio Seufz

The game “Lucky Tower Ultimate” by Studio Seufz has been nominated for a GDD Indie Award 2025 – in not just one, but two categories: Best Game and Best Game Mechanics (game design).

Lucky Tower Ultimate is a comedic, roguelike adventure game following the trials and tribulations of a narcissistic knight… as he repeatedly tries to escape the dangerous tower he’s been trapped in. The levels and layout of the tower are procedurally generated, so no two runs of Lucky Tower Ultimate will ever be the same. There are many different traps, weapons, monsters, and rooms to experience.

Lucky Tower Ultimate is the third game in the Lucky Tower series and available on Steam. The publisher of the game is AMC Games, and it was supported, among others, by MFG Baden-Württemberg.

The GDD Indie Awards, with a total prize money of €10,000, will be presented on July 9, 2025, during the GermanDevDays (GDD) game developer conference, taking place on July 9 and 10, 2025 in Frankfurt. Fingers crossed!
