From June 8 to 14, 2025, this year’s Annecy Festival will take place. As part of the festival, the MIFA animation film market will be held from June 10 to 13. Numerous projects by filmmakers from our network will be featured.
In the competition category “TV Films,” “Lena’s Farm” is represented with the episode “Volles Nest” by Elena Walf, produced by Thomas Meyer-Hermann (Studio Film Bilder). More info
The Animationsinstitut of the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg is also represented: in the “Graduation Films” category, “Detlev” by Ferdinand Ehrhardt (director and producer) and Saskia Stirn (producer), with distribution by Fabian Driehorst, will be screened. The animated feature film “Stitch Head” by screenwriter and director Steve Hudson will be shown in the “Annecy Presents” section and will celebrate its world premiere! At ITFS 2020, the screenplay received the AMCRS-sponsored award for Best German-language Screenplay for an Animated Feature Film. The film was supported by MFG and involved the studios LAVAlabs Moving Images and PIXOMONDO in its production. More info | News article by MFG

Animation, VFX and games fans, professionals, and students from around the world are coming together in Stuttgart to explore the latest trends, cutting-edge technologies, stunning projects, and the most exciting stories. The Deutsche Filmakademie (German Film Academy) announced the nominations for theDeutscher Filmpreis 2025(German Film Award 2025) a few days ago. Members of the AMCRS can also hope for a LOLA!
In the “Best Visual Effects” category, Max Riess, Sven Martin and Bernie Kimbacher and their team from PIXOMONDO have been nominated for “Woodwalkers” – Sven Martin is a graduate of Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg’s Animationsinstitut. Additionally, LAVAlabs was involved in creating the VFX for the film, which has also been nominated as “Best Children’s Film.”
Also nominated in the category “Best Visual Effects” are teams from RISE. They can even celebrate nominations for two productions – Jan Stoltz, Franzisca Puppe, Sebastian Lauer and their team for their work on “Hagen – Im Tal der Nibelungen” as well as Robert Pinnow and his team for the effects in “Das Licht.” Jan Stoltz also studied at the Animationsinstitut.
On May 9, 2025, the Lola winners will be announced at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for all the nominees!
Last week, the winners of the VES Awards 2025 were announced! The Visual Effects Society’s prestigious annual celebration recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation worldwide and the VFX supervisors, VFX producers and hands-on artists who bring this work to life.
Among the winners are also AMCRS members. The award in the category OUTSTANDING COMPOSITING & LIGHTING IN AN EPISODE went to “The Penguin; After Hours“. The winning team includes, among others, Karen Cheng from PIXOMONDO as well as Jonas Stuckenbrock from Accenture Song VFX, who is also a graduate of the Merz Akademie. We congratulate them and are thrilled for all the winners!

Teams from PIXOMONDO have been nominated no less than four times: in the OUTSTANDING VISUAL EFFECTS IN A PHOTOREAL EPISODE category for “House of the Dragon S2: The Red Dragon and the Gold“, in the OUTSTANDING CG CINEMATOGRAPHY category for “House of the Dragon S2: Battle at Rook’s Rest“, in the OUTSTANDING COMPOSITING & LIGHTING IN AN EPISODE category for “The Boys S4: Life Among the Septics“ and “The Penguin: After Hours“.
Scanline VFX got two nominations in the OUTSTANDING EFFECTS SIMULATIONS IN AN EPISODE, COMMERCIAL, GAME CINEMATIC, OR REAL-TIME PROJECT category – for “Avatar: The Last Airbender; Legends; Koizilla“ and “Three Body Problem; Judgement Day“.
The winners will be announced at the awards gala on February 11, 2025. We are keeping our fingers crossed for everyone involved!
Minister President Winfried Kretschmann visits PIXOMONDO
On Friday, November 22, 2024, Minister President of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann, along with State Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Research and Arts Arne Braun visited the VFX studio of our CREATORS from PIXOMONDO in Stuttgart and learned about their work on site.
PIXOMONDO offers industry-leading expertise and solutions in virtual production and premium visual effects for films and television series. Their award-winning projects include work on Martin Scorsese’s Oscar-winning film “HUGO”, the multi-Emmy-winning TV saga “GAME OF THRONES”, the series “THE BOYS”, “HOUSE OF THE DRAGON” (HBO), and “THE PALE BLUE EYE” (Netflix film).
Minister President Winfried Kretschmann: “The film and animation industry is a creative stimulus for our society. Its increasing significance is reflected not only in film and media but also as a driving force for technological developments and visual solutions in numerous other sectors of the economy. The nominations for the Emmy Awards2024 have been announced!
The series “Avatar: The Last Airbender” was nominated in the category “Outstanding Special Visual Effects In A Season Or A Movie”. Accenture Song VFX (with – among others – visual effects supervisor Emanuel Fuchs), Scanline VFX and PIXOMONDO were involved in the creation of the series. RISE also have every reason to celebrate: they contributed to the visual effects of the series “Fallout,” which has been nominated in the same category.
PIXOMONDO were also involved in the series “3 Body Problem” and “Winning Time”, both of which were nominated in several categories.
The 76th Emmys will be awarded on September 15, 2024 in Los Angeles. We are keeping our fingers crossed for all nominees!
