Merz Akademie, University of Applied Arts, Design and Media

The Merz Akademie offers students a future-oriented education in the wide field between art and media technology.

The Merz Akademie offers students a future-oriented education in the wide field between art and media technology, committed both to an advanced understanding of media authorship and to the requirements of professional skills. With its decided interest in the disciplines of humanities, social and cultural sciences, design and art, as well as technology, the academy positions itself as an innovative place of learning between a classical art academy, a design university and a faculty of humanities. The main areas of study are Film and Video, New Media and Visual Communication with a special focus on theory and cultural studies.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technologies, New Media students develop, for example, games and interactive visualizations for virtual reality (VR) or applications in the field of artificial intelligence. The degree qualifies students to work in virtual reality, web, game and interaction design agencies worldwide. Other career fields can be found in research, net and media art, 3D modeling and printing, and software development. Current research topics include interactive visualization of research data and integration of live video streams in VR.

The Merz Academy counts the high level of support and the communicative and supportive climate supported by all participants among its strengths.
