Film submissions for the 31st Filmschau Baden-Württemberg and the Jugendfilmpreis are open until August 31, 2025. Current feature films, short films, documentaries, animated films, commercials, series, and VFX projects with a connection to the state of Baden-Württemberg can be submitted to the Filmschau by this deadline via email to einreichung@filmbuerobw.de. Submission forms are available for download at www.filmschaubw.de. All criteria for participation in the Filmschau and in the competitions for the Baden-Württemberg Film Awards can be found in the registration form. For the first time, commercials and VFX projects are also eligible for submission by students.

The submission form for the Jugendfilmpreis can be downloaded from www.jugendfilmpreis.de. This form also provides information about the eligibility criteria for participation in the Jugendfilmpreis.

The 31st Filmschau Baden-Württemberg will take place from December 3 to 7, 2025, at the Innenstadtkinos in Stuttgart, showcasing the latest feature films, short films, documentaries, animated films, and commercials with a connection to Baden-Württemberg. All players in the film industry of the southwest region are welcome to take part. The Landesfilmschau is often referred to as the showcase of the southwest’s film and media scene. Integrated into the Filmschau is the independent Jugendfilmpreis, which gives young filmmakers from the southwest a chance to shine – with a big screen and a live audience. Nicknamed the “Jufi”, the youth section will begin on December 4, 2025, and will conclude with a major awards ceremony on December 7, 2025, at the Altes Schloss in Stuttgart, where the Baden-Württemberg Film Awards, the Baden-Württemberg Honorary Film Award, and the Jugendfilmpreis will be presented.

Dieter Krauß receives the Baden-Württemberg Ehrenfilmpreis 2022!

Dieter Krauß, former member of the management board of MFG Baden-Württemberg as well as former managing director of Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF, organiser of the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film and Raumwelten), will be awarded this year’s Baden-Württembergischer Ehrenfilmpreis (Baden-Württemberg Honorary Film Award). The non-endowed prize will be awarded at the 28th Filmschau Baden-Württemberg during the award ceremony on Sunday, December 11, 2022, in the Dürnitz Kulturlounge in the Altes Schloss Stuttgart.

The award honors people who help shape Baden-Württemberg as a media and film location, support it sustainably through their work and make an important contribution to the perception of the location beyond the state borders, according to the Filmbüro Baden-Württemberg.

The initiators justify their choice as follows: “Dieter Krauß has been an architect of the film scene in the southwest from the 1970s until today, keeping a firm eye on both the content and the financial side of the industry. The passionate cineaste is committed to a lively film location with his heart and soul. Thus Dieter Krauß also became one of the founding fathers of the Filmbüro Baden-Württemberg with its annual film shows. Although Krauß worked full-time in banking from 1974 to 1999, arthouse cinema remained his great passion.

After 25 years of working as a banker, Dieter Krauß moved to MFG Filmförderung. With the midwife, motor, film expert and firm pillar of the film scene in the southwest, the right man came to the right place at the right time. He dedicated himself to the countless interrelationships, dependencies and opportunities that are so extremely important for optimising the implementation of the socio-political tasks of the film industry and accompanied the development of the industry with great success. In autumn 2018 – after 18 MFG years – Dieter Krauß moved to Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH as Dittmar Lumpp’s successor.

Even after his retirement this September, the managing director will remain loyal to the Film- und Medienfestival; Dieter Krauß supports Uwe Schmitz-Gielsdorf, who took over the management in autumn for an interim period until the end of May 2023.”

In addition, Dieter Krauß was an advisory board member of the AMCRS from 2021 to 2022. Congratulations, dear Dieter!
